The striker joined the Gunners from Sporting Lisbon in July

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres has been omitted in the new manager's maiden Swedish national team selection, whereas Reds forward the talented attacker has earned selection

The Arsenal forward is set to undergo more examinations in the coming days amid concerns he sustained a hamstring injury in Arsenal's English top flight win at Burnley last weekend

Gyokeres sat out Arsenal' European success versus the Czech side earlier this week

Alexander Isak Makes Comeback

Isak, who has been sidelined from late October because of a groin injury, was selected for World Cup qualifying fixtures against Switzerland (15 November) and Slovenia (18 November)

Additional England-based Call-ups

  • Spurs midfielder Lucas Bergvall, working his way back from a head injury
  • Newcastle winger Anthony Elanga

These players are among the England-based players selected by former Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham coach Graham Potter

The New Manager's Appointment

Potter was named by Sweden originally on a short-term basis in late October, under a month following leaving from the Hammers

Previous coach the Danish coach was sacked after the national team's setback against the Kosovan team in mid-October, an outcome which rendered straight qualification from their World Cup group impossible

Current Position

Sweden find themselves last place of their qualifying group having only one point in their opening four games

Should they don't manage to secure second place, they may yet participate in the qualification playoffs as a result thanks to their showing in the latest UEFA competition
