Renowned Actor Pat Finn, Known For Parts in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.

American actor Pat Finn, who featured in iconic television series including Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died at 60 years old.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California on Monday following treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, according to media reports.

"Pat never met a stranger - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives shared in a statement.

They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".

A Prolific Career on Screen

Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He starred as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a host famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.

Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of popular shows, such as:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

He was most recognized for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons over nearly a decade.

His film credits encompass It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Outside of his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was involved with a six-person improv troupe known as Beer Shark Mice.

"He guided, supported, and advised many learners during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his relatives stated.

Offering condolences, peer actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted on social media.

Pat Finn is remembered by his wife Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
