🔗 Share this article Former Physician Faces Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care Prosecutors have announced that a ex- physician stands accused of committing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients. The Serious Charges The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021. One senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.” The Investigation The charges come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley. The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January. List of Charges The charging documents said the forty-five charges he is charged with: 15 counts of assault. Seventeen counts of penetrative assault. 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen. Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen. One count of attempted penetrative assault. Police have asked individuals with information to get in touch with the relevant police force.
